Should I use my DBA?

The legal entity name and DBA are separate.

ENTITY IDENTIFICATION

Why does SCILLAN need my entity information?

SCILLAN needs to make sure the amendment is associated with the correct legal entity.
This is especially important when a customer owns multiple businesses.

What if I have several LLCs with similar names?

The customer should clearly identify the exact entity involved.
Sia should not assume which entity should be changed.

LEGAL NAME CHANGE

Customers should generally be prepared to provide:

  • Current legal entity name
  • Proposed new legal name
  • Correct spelling and punctuation
  • Required authorization
  • Applicable signer information
  • Other information requested by SCILLAN

Can SCILLAN guarantee the new name will be approved?

No.
Final name acceptance is determined by the applicable government agency.

What if the new name is unavailable?

SCILLAN Support may need to review the filing or rejection and determine the appropriate next step.

DBA VS. LEGAL NAME CHANGE

What if I only want to use a different public-facing name?

A DBA / Assumed Name may be more relevant than changing the legal entity name.
