Purchasing SCILLAN Registered Agent service and officially changing the Registered Agent in the Texas government record are separate steps.
A customer should not assume that:
“I paid SCILLAN today”
means:
“The Texas Secretary of State already lists SCILLAN as my Registered Agent.”

LEGAL ENTITY NAME

What business name should I provide?

Customers should provide the exact legal entity name shown in the Texas government record.

Should I provide my DBA instead?

No.
A DBA / Assumed Name does not replace the legal entity name.

The Change of Registered Agent filing should be associated with the legal entity.

TEXAS ENTITY NUMBER

Do I need my Texas entity number?

If available, customers should provide the applicable Texas identifying information.
This helps ensure SCILLAN is processing the change for the correct business.

What if I do not know my entity number?

The customer may still contact SCILLAN Support for assistance identifying the correct entity.
Sia should never invent an entity number.

ENTITY TYPE

What entity type should I provide?

Customers should identify the actual entity type, such as:

LLC
Corporation
Limited Partnership
Foreign entity registered in Texas
Other eligible entity type

Sia should not guess.

CURRENT REGISTERED AGENT

Do I need to know who my current Registered Agent is?

Customers should provide that information if available.
The current government record may also need to be reviewed.

CURRENT REGISTERED OFFICE

What is the Registered Office?

The Registered Office is the Texas address associated with the Registered Agent.
It is not automatically the same as the company's:

Business address
Mailing address
Principal office
Virtual office
Customer-facing location

DO NOT CANCEL THE OLD REGISTERED AGENT TOO EARLY

Should I cancel my existing Registered Agent before switching to SCILLAN?

No.
Customers should generally avoid ending existing Registered Agent coverage before the official change has been appropriately handled.
Approved response:
“Do not cancel your current Registered Agent service prematurely. SCILLAN should first complete the applicable Change of Registered Agent process so your entity does not unintentionally lose Registered Agent coverage.”

WHEN DOES SCILLAN BECOME MY REGISTERED AGENT?

Does SCILLAN become my official Registered Agent as soon as I pay?

Not necessarily.
For an existing entity, the process generally includes:

Purchase SCILLAN Registered Agent service
Complete intake
Provide authorization
Prepare the Change of Registered Agent
Submit the applicable filing
Government processes the change
Updated government record reflects SCILLAN

OFFICIAL STATE RECORD

How do I know when the change is complete?

The government record should reflect the updated Registered Agent information.
Sia should not state that the change is complete unless the status has been verified.

What is the difference?

Updates the official Registered Agent record for the entity.
These steps are related but not identical.

SCILLAN Registered Agent service generally has an:

GOVERNMENT FEES

Is the State filing fee included in the $179?

No.
The $179 is the annual SCILLAN Registered Agent + Compliance Alerts fee.
Applicable government filing fees are separate.

STATE CREDIT-CARD FEE

Where applicable, the State's credit-card fee is incorporated within SCILLAN's government-fee pricing structure.
SCILLAN should not charge a separate 2.7% Card Convenience Fee.

I have several LLCs. Does one subscription cover them all?

No.

What if my email changes later?

Customers should update SCILLAN promptly.
An outdated email address may cause important communications to be missed.

SCILLAN REGISTERED AGENT ADDRESS

Can I start using SCILLAN's Registered Agent address for everything?

No.
The Registered Agent address is for the Registered Agent function.
It is not a:

General mailing address
Package-receiving service
Virtual mailbox
Virtual office
Principal business office
Storefront

GENERAL BUSINESS MAIL

Can customers or vendors mail things there?

Not as part of the standard Registered Agent service.
SCILLAN's Registered Agent service is intended for applicable official notices and service of process.

BANK MAIL

Can I send my bank statements to the Registered Agent address?

No.
The Registered Agent address should not be used as a general banking mailing address unless a separate approved service specifically permits it.

PACKAGE DELIVERY

Can Amazon, FedEx, or UPS packages be sent there?

No.
Standard Registered Agent service does not include general package receiving.

SERVICE OF PROCESS

What happens after SCILLAN becomes my Registered Agent?

If SCILLAN receives applicable service of process for the entity, it will follow its Registered Agent procedures and notify the customer through the approved method.
Legal documents should be reviewed promptly.

Can Sia tell me what a lawsuit means?

No.

“SCILLAN can notify you when applicable legal documents are received, but it cannot provide legal advice about the claims or deadlines. Please review the documents promptly and consult a licensed attorney.”

OFFICIAL NOTICES

Will all government notices go to SCILLAN?

No.
Not every agency sends every communication to the Registered Agent.
Customers remain responsible for monitoring their other:

Government accounts
Business addresses
Tax correspondence
Licensing records

My Registered Agent resigned. What should I do?

This should be handled promptly.
Sia may direct the customer to enroll in SCILLAN Registered Agent service and contact Support for the applicable change process.
Approved response:
“If your current Registered Agent has resigned, please contact SCILLAN Support promptly at so the entity's status and Change of Registered Agent requirements can be reviewed.”

CUSTOMER REMOVED OLD REGISTERED AGENT

I already canceled my old agent. What now?

The customer should contact SCILLAN promptly.
Sia should not assume the official government record has changed.

FOREIGN ENTITY

Can a foreign-qualified entity switch to SCILLAN?

Yes, where applicable.
A foreign entity registered in Texas may appoint SCILLAN as its Texas Registered Agent through the appropriate process.

NEW FOREIGN QUALIFICATION

If the entity has not yet registered in Texas, SCILLAN offers:

NEW LLC FORMATION

Do I need a Change of Registered Agent if SCILLAN is listed when my new LLC is formed?

No separate switch may be necessary if SCILLAN is properly designated as Registered Agent in the original formation filing.

EXISTING LLC

What if my LLC already exists with another agent?

The Change of Registered Agent workflow may apply.

AUTHORIZATION

Does SCILLAN need my permission to make the change?

Yes.
The appropriate authorization must be received before the filing is submitted.

PAYMENT DOES NOT EQUAL AUTHORIZATION

Paying for Registered Agent service does not automatically replace required filing authorization or signatures.

SIGNER

Who can authorize the change?

The person authorizing the filing should have appropriate authority for the entity.
Sia should not determine disputed signing authority.

OWNERSHIP DISPUTE

One owner wants to switch agents and another does not.

If authority is disputed, Sia should not decide who can act.
Refer the customer to a licensed attorney where necessary.

SCILLAN must follow the applicable process for accepting its Registered Agent appointment.
Sia should not provide or invent consent documentation outside the approved workflow.

When does the 3–5 business day processing period begin?

INCOMPLETE INTAKE

What happens if I don't finish the intake?

The change may remain pending until the required information is received.

MISSING AUTHORIZATION

Can SCILLAN file anyway because I already paid?

No.
Required authorization must still be completed.

WRONG ENTITY INFORMATION

What if I entered the wrong LLC?

Contact SCILLAN immediately before submission.

WRONG INFORMATION AFTER SUBMISSION

The filing has already been submitted with incorrect information.

What if Texas rejects the filing?

The rejection may involve:

Can a Change of Registered Agent be expedited?

If the filing is eligible for Texas Secretary of State expedited processing, Texas Express may be available.

My old Registered Agent renewed me anyway. Will SCILLAN fix that bill?

Registered Agent service renews annually.

CANCELLING SCILLAN LATER

If I cancel SCILLAN next year, does Texas automatically remove SCILLAN?

No.
The customer may need to appoint a replacement Registered Agent and complete the applicable government change.

EXPO OFFER

Can the Expo promotion be used when switching Registered Agents?

Eligible attendees of a participating SCILLAN expo event may receive:

when switching their Texas Registered Agent to SCILLAN under the applicable promotional terms.

Eligible participants generally have:
48 hours following the applicable expo event
